Sharing The Salesian Charism And Mission With Adherents Of Neighbour Religions And People Of Goodwill

250.00

Pope Francis concludes the introductory section of his Encyclical, Fratelli Tutti with these inspiring words: “How important it is to dream together … By ourselves, we risk seeing mirages, things that are not there.  Dreams, on the other hand, are built together. Let us dream, then, as a single human family, as fellow travellers sharing the same flesh, as children of the same earth which is our common home, each of us bringing the richness of his or her beliefs and convictions, each of us with his or her own voice, brothers and sisters all” (no. 8).  We are fellow travellers, brothers and sisters, making our journey to God.

What is affirmed by the presence of God, by religion, according to the Preventive System is first of all that every person is a child of God, whatever religion they belong to. This is the basis of the dignity of each person.  A clear awareness of this is essential for valuing the diversity present in the world.

This book explores how the members of the Salesian Family can share their charism and mission with adherents of other religions and people of goodwill, and journey together with them to facilitate the holistic development especially of poor young people and lead them to God.  In this year of the bicentenary of the dream of Don Bosco that contained in seminal form the seeds of the Salesian charism and mission it is very appropriate that we have reflected, in this book, on the theological and charismatic foundation for dreaming and journeying together.  This journey presents many challenges, but it is important, and it is to be done following the lead of the Holy Spirit who blows where he wills

(Jn 3:8).
